Generalized labeled multi-Bernoulli filter with signal features of unknown emitters Research Article

Qiang GUO, Long TENG, Xinliang WU, Wenming SONG, Dayu HUANG

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 12,   Pages 1871-1880 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200286

Abstract:

A novel algorithm that combines the (GLMB) filter with signal features of the unknown emitter is proposed in this paper. In complex electromagnetic environments, emitter features (EFs) are often unknown and time-varying. Aiming at the unknown feature problem, we propose a method for identifying EFs based on of data fields. Because EFs are time-varying and the probability distribution is unknown, an improved algorithm is proposed to calculate the correlation coefficients between the target and measurements, to approximate the EF likelihood function. On this basis, the EF likelihood function is integrated into the recursive GLMB filter process to obtain the new prediction and update equations. Simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the tracking performance of multiple targets, especially in heavy clutter environments.

Technological lubricating means: Evolution of materials and ideas

Vladimir A. GODLEVSKIY

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2016, Volume 11, Issue 1,   Pages 101-107 doi: 10.1007/s11465-016-0369-y

Abstract:

The main stages of technological lubricating material development from ancient times to date are described. How the chemical composition of these products changed with time, how new ideas revealing the physical and chemical basics of external media that influence the mechanical processing of materials appeared, how these ideas explained the differences between traditional tribology and specific technology of metal processing are discussed. The question of the possible realization of Rehbinder’s adsorption effect in contact zone is also stated. The description of a very captivating problem is related to the explanation of the mechanism of lubricant penetration into the contact zone between the material being processed and the tool. The birth and development of the hypothesis of microcapillary penetration of the lubricant into the dynamically changed intersurface clearance that has finally led to formulating the “necessary kinetic condition of the lubricating activity” is relayed.

An integrated approach to site-specific management zone delineation

MULLA, Pierre C. ROBERT

Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering 2018, Volume 5, Issue 4,   Pages 432-441 doi: 10.15302/J-FASE-2018230

Abstract:

Dividing fields into a few relatively homogeneous management zones (MZ) is a practical and cost-effective approach to precision agriculture. There are three basic approaches to MZ delineation using soil and/or landscape properties, yield information, and both sources of information. The objective of this study is to propose an integrated approach to delineating site-specific MZ using relative elevation, organic matter, slope, electrical conductivity, yield spatial trend map, and yield temporal stability map (ROSE-YSTTS) and evaluate it against two other approaches using only soil and landscape information (ROSE) or clustering multiple year yield maps (CMYYM). The study was carried out on two no-till corn-soybean rotation fields in eastern Illinois, USA. Two years of nitrogen (N) rate experiments were conducted in Field B to evaluate the delineated MZs for site-specific N management. It was found that in general the ROSE approach was least effective in accounting for crop yield variability (8.0%–9.8%), while the CMYYM approach was least effective in accounting for soil and landscape (8.9%–38.1%), and soil nutrient and pH variability (9.4%–14.5%). The integrated ROSE-YSTTS approach was reasonably effective in accounting for the three sources of variability (38.6%–48.9%, 16.1%–17.3% and 13.2%–18.7% for soil and landscape, nutrient and pH, and yield variability, respectively), being either the best or second best approach. It was also found that the ROSE-YSTTS approach was effective in defining zones with high, medium and low economically optimum N rates. It is concluded that the integrated ROSE-YSTTS approach combining soil, landscape and yield spatial-temporal variability information can overcome the weaknesses of approaches using only soil, landscape or yield information, and is more robust for MZ delineation. It also has the potential for site-specific N management for improved economic returns. More studies are needed to further evaluate their appropriateness for precision N and crop management.

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2014, Volume 8, Issue 2,   Pages 156-160 doi: 10.1007/s11705-014-1427-9

Abstract: In this work, Mg doped hydroxyapatite (Mg-HAP) nanoparticles were produced by a reaction-precipitation process by using a spinning disc reactor (SDR) at high rotational speed. The production process of these nanoparticles consisted of the neutralization reaction between two aqueous solutions of calcium chloride and ammonia orthophosphate at room temperature. By operating at pH= 10, a high purity Mg-HAP nanoparticles were obtained. In particular, they were 51 nm in average size when the two reagents were fed over the disc symmetrically at 3 cm from the disc center and a rotational speed of the disc reactor equal to 1400 r/min was adopted.
